XXIn one of the worst-guarded secrets on record, High Point officials were to have announced Monday that Polo Ralph Lauren is expanding its already-large presence in the city. The upscale clothing manufacturer is moving into a vacant property at 4190 Eagle Hill Drive, off Premier Dr. in north High Point. The 343,000 sq. ft. building was formerly occupied by Universal Furniture.
XXPolo Ralph Lauren is already the city's sixth-largest employer, with over 1,100 workers in its distribution and customer service units. Several hundred additional jobs are expected to be added with the expansion, although an exact number will not be known until the press conference.
XXCity officials had been hinting for several days that a major job-creator was about to make an announcement, but the company's identity was only learned last weekend. The press conference was held after the Jamestown News deadline Monday. Full details will appear in next week's edition.
